5+ Tips For Decorating Your Slim 12 Foot Christmas Tree Successfully
A friend recounted an interesting dilemma some time back. She had recently purchased a new home that had very high ceilings but a paucity of floor space. In order to maximize her space utilization for the holidays, she purchased a 12 foot slim Christmas tree. Her reasoning was sound: by trading width for height, she could have the same relative surface area as her old smaller but wider tree to hang all of her treasured ornaments, but the slim nature of the tree meant that less floor space was required. What she had not anticipated was how the smaller angle of incline of the 12 foot slim Christmas tree made arranging all of her ornaments particularly challenging.
The problem was that many of the ornaments were hand crafted by various family members and tended to be quite bulky. Her previous artificial Xmas trees had been wider and shorter, so large ornaments could be placed randomly and the large slope angle ensured that adjacent rows did not obscure one another. Unfortunately, her 12 foot slim Christmas tree sloped so shallowly that ornaments on lower branches were often obscured by ornaments placed above them.
Her solution was quite ingenious. Before she began to trim her new 12’ slender artificial tree, she separated out the largest ornaments. She arranged these in a spiral pattern from top to bottom and then filled in the spaces with her smaller ornaments. The result was that no ornaments were obscured and the finished product looked magnificent. From the homemade pine-cone and glitter angel on top to the hand quilted heirloom skirt on the bottom, her tree became the centerpiece for many precious holiday memories.
