12v Led Christmas Lights
This festive season you can decorate your tree
with beautiful 12v led Christmas lights to enhance the beauty of the tree and
all its ornaments. These lights are a long standing tradition in homes around
the world where Christmas is celebrated, but few give much thought to the
origins of this tradition.
In centuries past during the winter solstice period people would bring fir trees
into their homes and decorate them with sugar ornaments and with miniature
candles. This tradition predates the Christian celebration of the birth of
Christ, but as this milestone in history was adopted around the world, it
incorporated the ritual of decorating a so-called Christmas tree.
The switch from candlelit trees to ones lit with 12v led Christmas lights came
about due to the discovery of electricity and the invention of light bulbs by
Thomas A Edison. His vice president of the Edison Electric Light Company, one
Edward H Johnson, designed the first hand wired string of eighty electric lights
in 1882.
They were, however, expensive to manufacture and were beyond the budgets of most
ordinary homemakers until 1930 when manufacturing techniques allowed for a
cheaper and more efficient manufacturing process. The popularity of 12v led
Christmas lights quickly spread across Europe and the Americas and today almost
every home has a set to decorate the Christmas tree.
Many designs are now available in a range of colors. Red, white, green, blue and
orange lights are available in multi-colored strands with green wiring to blend
in with the green foliage of the fir tree. Alternatively plain strands of
individual colors are also available. Cherry lights are quite popular, with
round red bulbs. Alternatively you can choose white lights that resemble icicles
for your tree.
These lights are very popular due to their beauty and the fact that they are
relatively inexpensive. They do not use large amounts of electricity to power
them and so are a cost effective decoration that is a much safer option than
traditional candles.
