Most Unusual Christmas
Decorations
When you think of Christmas, you might think
of tinsel, giant Santa Claus ornaments, or sparkly Christmas trees. But what
about weird and unusual Christmas decorations. Christmas can be traditional, but
there are now lots of different and unique items available to adorn your tree,
garden or home.
Just because a decorative item in unusual, does not mean it needs to be odd or
grotesque. There are lots of companies that specialize in unique adornments such
as glass or hand painted scenes. Traditionally, hanging baubles were spherical
and shiny, but there are now retailers that make specific shapes like small
Santa clauses or angels.
You can buy very detailed and imaginative pieces for your home and garden, such
as a felt snowman's head with intricate woolen scarf and individually sculpted
facial pieces. Traditional fairy lights are available in all shapes and sizes,
such as a string with small reindeers every couple of inches that light up all
the colors of the rainbow. The traditional wreath that goes on the front door
can be updated to have flashing lights, or even to sing a song.
Many companies sell unusual Christmas decorations, but it is just as easy and
fun to customize your own. For years people have bought small rectangular strips
of paper to glue together to make a paper chain. Why not buy some extravagant
wrapping paper and cut them into strips to give your paper chain a personal
touch. Or you could add some glitter to your wreath or card hanger to make it
sparkle.
Why not buy some plain baubles, and turn them into more unusual Christmas
decorations by wrapping them up in decorated felt and tying a bow around them.
You could update old fashioned tinsel decorations by adding a layer of pretty
ribbon. You could even update your Santa Claus by giving him a new look, perhaps
some leopard print braces to hold up his enormous trousers!
